5 Questions With Three Irish Girls

I'm so happy to introduce you to Three Irish Girls Knits In our 5 questions with series. I got to meet them as a vendor at our RBK Yarn Bazaar in Oct. Their yarn is scrumptious and their personality is even more addictive. A huge thank you to The Irish Girls for taking the time to do this and hope to see them again in Oct for the RBK yarn Bazaar!

5 Questions With

5 Questions with... Shelli Martinez! Shelli is

1.) What got you interested in Fiber Arts, Knitting, Crochet, Weaving, Spinning, Dying and more?

My grandma taught me to knit when I was little. I didn't knit for a long time, but in one of my college drawing classes there was nude model who knit. I was like "Hey, I can do that!". I started knitting again (clothed) after that.

2.) If you were to describe yourself as a color, what would that color be? Why?

Yellow. I'm generally bright and cheerful, but sometimes a little intense.

3.) What's a motto that you live your life by?

When nothing goes right, go left!

4.) What is your favorite thing that you've ever created? And for fun, your least favorite?

My favorite thing is one of my current WIPs. I'm knitting a Guthrie by Caitlin Hunter using a technique I call "smarling" (stranded marling). I'm doing stranded colorwork using two strands of yarn held double for each color. I'm swapping out colors every few rows and it just looks crazy and amazing. My least favorite thing is my Snoqualmie because my sister claimed it. All that cabling and I can't even wear it!! 😂

5.) What's a piece of advice about crafting, life or both that you'd like to pass along?

People are capable of more than they give themselves credit for. Don't get overwhelmed, be patient, and take things one step at a time. You can do it! This can probably be applied to crafting and life... also eating an entire pizza.
